7 Quick Breakfasts

Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but it's often the most rushed as well! To help you whip up something quick on busy mornings, we've rounded up 7 breakfast meals that come together quickly. 

1.   Oatmeal With Toppings
Oatmeal makes a great healthy, hot meal for busy mornings. Toppings include half of a banana and a tablespoon of Sun Butter; a tablespoon of honey, some fruit, and a dash of cinnamon; a dash of brown sugar and cinnamon and a teaspoon of maple syrup; or a tablespoon of your favorite jelly.

2.  Fruit and Cheese
A balanced, easy-to-assemble make-ahead morning meal: Grab an apple, wrap 1 to 2 ounces of Cheddar in plastic, and toss ¼ cup of fiber- and protein-rich walnuts into a resealable plastic bag.

3.   Natural yoghurt
Topped with mixed berries, a teaspoon of ground flaxseeds, a slice of whole grain toast; and a cup of green tea
 
4.   Strawberry Shake
In a cocktail shaker, combine a packet of vanilla or strawberry instant-breakfast powder (look for the no-sugar-added kind) and 1 cup of low-fat strawberry cow's milk or soy milk. (You can also mix this the night before.)

If you have time, use a blender to add strawberries or a frozen banana, for extra fiber, and a scoop of protein powder.

5.   Plain Doughnut with Chocolate Milk
A plain cake-style doughnut is usually a better choice than a bakery muffin. At Dunkin' Donuts, for instance, an old-fashioned doughnut has 280 calories, while a corn muffin has 510 calories. Add fiber by eating ¼ cup of almonds or dried fruit. Instead of coffee, try 8 ounces of low-fat chocolate milk. 

6.   Breakfast Burritos
Burritos which is simply a warm corn tortilla filled with eggs, cheese, and bacon (can even be that microwaved kind)

7.   Latte, grapes and nuts
Instead of stopping at the drive thru for an expensive latte, make your own. Warm a cup of low fat milk in the microwave; add to your travel mug fill with espresso or extra strong coffee. Sweeten with flavored sugar free syrups or your favorite sweetener; add a dash of cinnamon if desired. Place a serving of almonds or other nuts and a serving of grapes in a zip lock bag and sip and munch your way to work.

10 Fakta Tentang Kopi Yang Perlu Anda Tahu

Di negara-negara beriklim sejuk, meminum kopi menjadi amalan lazim bagi penduduknya. Di Finland misalnya, aktiviti minum kopi setiap hari dilakukan sekerap 3 jam sekali di waktu pejabat. Di Kanada, kopi menjadi satu minuman penting dalam rutin harian warganya. Tidak mengira tempat dan waktu, di mana-mana sahaja kelihatan orang membawa cawan kopi atau minuman seumpamanya.

Tidak hairanlah, kedai-kedai kopi pelbagai jenama muncul seperti cendawan tumbuh selepas hujan di seluruh dunia termasuk di negara kita Malaysia. Dan kopi seolah-olah menjadi fenomena baru warga dunia zaman kini. Sebut sahaja Starbucks, Second Cup, Tim Horton, Gloria Jeans Cafe, Kopitiam, Warung Kopi Pak Ali atau Kedai Kopi Ah Beng semuanya menjual pelbagai jenis minuman berkafein ini. Catatan pendek ini mengajak pembaca menyemak fakta-fakta tentang kopi.

1. Kopi ditemui oleh kambing
Kira-kira seribu tahun dahulu di pergunungan afrika, sekawan kambing terjaga malam setelah memakan biji kopi merah. Pengembala kambing mendapati kambing ternakannya memakan biji dan daun kopi dengan kuantiti yang banyak. Mulai dari saat itu, manusia mula belajar meminum kopi.

2. Kopi yang baik bergantung pada kaedah memanggang dan penghancurannya
Jika ingin menikmati rasa kopi sebenar yang enak, ia bergantung pada kaedah penyediaanya iaitu memanggang dan mengisarnya. Semasa memanggang, minyak dari biji kopi akan keluar dan minyak ini akan menambah rasa kopi. Kandungan kafein di dalam kopi berasal dari minyak yang terbit dari hasil pemanggangan biji kopi ini dan jumlahnya bergantung berapa lama ia berada di bahagian paling dasar. Kopi biasa mempunyai kandungan kafein yang lebih tinggi berbanding espresso dan cappucino. Pemanggangan yang lama juga akan menghasilkan kafein yang berlebihan.

3. Kafein bukanlah penyebab rasa pahit kopi
Ramai orang yang beranggapan, semakin pahit rasa kopi, maka makin tinggilah kafeinnya. Hakikatnya tidak!

4. Pengurangan kafein menggunakan bahan kimia
Untuk mengurangi kandungan kafein dalam kopi, sejenis kimia iaitu methylene chloride digunakan.

5. Pengurangan kafein (nyahkafein / decaffein) di dalam kopi tidak menyebabkan kafein hilang 100%
Penyingkiran kafein atau decaffein atau bebas kafein bukanlah menghilangkan 100% kafein kopi. Ia masih kekal di dalam kopi dengan kuantiti yang lebih sedikit. Dengan bahasa mudah, meminum 10 cawan kopi yang dinyahkafein, sama seperti meminum 2 cawan kopi berkafein.

6. Kopi boleh menyegarkan dan berupaya mengurangi rasa mengantuk
Fakta ini mungkin telah diketahui ramai. Meminum kopi berupaya membuatkan kita menahan diri dari mengantuk dan tertidur terutamanya di waktu malam. Bagi penggemar kopi yang tidak bertujuan untuk berjaga malam, sebaiknya minumlah kopi 6 jam lebih awal untuk tidak mengganggu jadual tidur.

7. Kafein boleh mengurangi rasa sakit
Menurut satu kajian, meminum kopi dalam kuantiti yang sederhana mampu mengurangi rasa sakit dan lenguh selepas bersukan. Ia lebih berkesan kepada mereka yang bukan peminum kopi tegar.

8. Kafein boleh meningkatkan rasa ghairah seks
Kajian yang dijalankan ke atas tikus di makmal membuktikan fakta ini. Dan sekali lagi, ia berkesan untuk mereka yang bukan peminat kopi tegar.

9. Kopi sebenarnya baik untuk kesihatan
Sebenarnya kopi memiliki agen antioksidan dan ia baik untuk kesihatan sekiranya tidak keterlaluan mengambilnya.

10. Kafein boleh membunuh

Day 1: Pamper the Skin You're In 
Indulge in an Aromatherapy Bath Soak
- 2 cups Dead Sea salt, regular sea salt
- 1 cup or Epsom salt,
- 1/2 cup Baking Soda
Relaxing and unwind by adding the following essential oil blend to your bath 6 drops of Lavender, 2 drops of Sweet Orange, and 2 drops of Ylang Ylang. Mix the Soak thoroughly and add to warm running water. Next moisturize your skin with pure coconut oil blended with 2 drops of lavender.

Kenapa Anda Perlukan Coklat

Coklat adalah kaya dengan antioxidant seperti catechins an phenols. Ia membantu dalam pencegahan sakit jantung dan kanser. Kandungannya sama seperti dalam teh hijau, jus oren, bayam, bawang, jagung dan pisang.

Coklat hitam dikatakan mempunyai empat kali kadar catechins dan phenols berbanding teh. Untuk makluman, satu kajian menyatakan, minumlah teh tanpa susu untuk mendapat khasiat antioxidant teh.

Phenols dikatakan dapat melindungi daripada serangan sakit jantung. Antioxidant yang wujud bukan setakat melindungi sel-sel dan DNA daripada radikal bebas malah ia menghalang pembentukan bahan lemak yang boleh menyebabkan salur darah jantung tersumbat.

Coklat tidak mengemukkan. Tidak ada satu jenis makanan akan menyebabkan gemuk. Pengambilan berlebihan sesuatu jenis makanan meningkatkan kalori. Jika kalori ini tidak dibakar sebanyak ia diambil, ini yang menyebabkan kegemukan. Makanlah coklat dalam kadar yang sederhana, bukan sekadar coklat malah semua jenis makanan.

Satu kajian yang dijalankan di Universiti Pittsburgh mendapati coklat tidak menyebabkan migrain seperti yang disangkakan sebelum ini. Mereka yang sering mengalami migrain atau sakit kepala boleh memakannya tanpa perlu risau ia akan menyebabkan sakit kepala.

Malah coklat mengandungi bahan seperti ubat penenang, yang menjadi penahan sakit dan meningkat tahap rasa sihat. Coklat keluarkan endorphins yang membuat kita rasa gembira.

Makan seberapa banyak dan kerap, coklat bukanlah bahan ketagihan. Permakanannya boleh dihentikan bila-bila masa.

Makan coklat dikatakan boleh menguatkan sistem pertahanan badan. Ini boleh mengurangkan risiko jangkitan selsema dan flu.

Coklat bukanlah penyebabkan jerawat. Jerawat disebabkan oleh perubahan hormon dan genetik. Jangan streskan diri, makanlah coklat. Ia boleh tenangkan anda sewaktu stres.

Coklat mengandungi phenylethylamine dan tyramine, bahan kimia yang menyebabkan rasa sayang dan berahi. Coklat adalah salah satu makanan aphrodisiac. Phenylethylamine adalah kimia yang berkait dengan amphetamines. Ia meningkatkan aliran darah, kadar glukos dalam darah, jadikan kita lebih waspada atau sedar dan rasa puas. Coklat boleh dikatakan makanan untuk seks selain tiram.

Coklat berwarna hitam merupakan sumber tembaga (copper) dan dalam kadar sedikit adalah perlu untuk kesihatan metbolisma dan membantu menghalang penyakit Alzhemier's dan osteoporosis.

Bagi wanita yang menghadapi PMS, makan coklat dapat membekalkan magnesium yang diperlukan oleh badan. Datang bulan mengurangkan kadar magnesium dalam badan dan ini meningkatkan masalah kesakitan waktu haid (PMS).

Selain coklat, mengambil soya 40mg ke 80mg sehari boleh melegakan masalah yang timbul akibat datang haid kerana soya mengandungi phytoestrogens, struktur kimia yang hampir sama dengan estrogen. Mampu menolong mengurangkan ketegangan.

Bagi wanita, coklat menggalakkan pengeluaran kimia endorphins bagi otak wanita, yang menggalakkan rasa gembira dan mengurangkan stres.

Makan coklat adalah baik untuk kita, namun seperti mana-mana makanan janganlah ambil berlebihan.

Women, Hormones, Mood Swings, And Antidepressants

It is a little known fact that women are more likely to experience depression than men. Two or three times more likely, according to some scientific data. This stems down to basic biology and the various differences between male and female physiologies, and not that women are supposedly considered as the weaker sex. Things like the levels of estrogen in the bloodstream and serotonin in the brain are among the factors that cause women to be more likely to need prescription antidepressants than men. It isn't just depression that women are found to be more susceptible to, however. A specific form of depression, known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD), is also known to be more prevalent among women than men.

According to some studies, men and women put under the same level of stress will experience and deal with that stress differently. Women are found to be more likely to develop a need for prescription antidepressants and the like, due to their increased probability of developing a more emotional response. Men, on the other hand, often turned to aggression and abuse of various substances, with tobacco and alcohol being the most common. Science now believes that this difference stems from higher levels of certain biochemicals in the body. These chemicals, which may include the female hormone estrogen, are at the root of the more "emotionally attuned" response to stress and pressure. This, combined with the fact that female hormone levels are in near-constant flux throughout their lives, makes them more prone to develop mental disorders that deal with emotions and emotional responses.

It is interesting to note that some health experts believe that the nature of female hormone levels makes women more prone to some forms of depression than men. The female physiology and hormone levels make them prone to a number of psychological conditions that can be treated by prescription antidepressants. These episodes are most often connected to the levels of estrogen in the female body. Unfortunately, the estrogen levels are often at their highest (or in their greatest state of flux) during times when others expect odd behavior from women and girls. As such, these brief episodes of depression are ignored as being part of "that time of the month." On some occasions, these episodes may last longer than normal, but most people will just pass it off as being part of being female, rather than consult with an expert.

Premenstrual syndrome, which has been a problem of women for years, is also sometimes linked with depression. Most women do not realize that this syndrome can be treated, along with the depressive episodes it has been known to cause on occasion. Prescription antidepressants can help alleviate this problem, as well as help a woman deal with the temporary effects of postpartum depression. It should be noted that women who suffer from postpartum depression once are more susceptible to experience it again in the event they have another child. Menopause is also a major concern. Most modern women live nearly a third of their lives after the menopausal period, but the suicide rate for women is highest before menopause sets in. Prescription antidepressants and the right therapy could help lower those numbers.

The Fibrocystic Breast

Fibrocystic breast condition refers to a situation wherein a woman’s breasts have lumps that are non-cancerous. These lumps can cause a great deal of discomfort and other problems. The situation commonly comes about as a result of hormonal changes due to the woman’s menstrual cycle.

A woman’s breasts are made up of several mammary ducts that are surrounded by glandular connective tissues that enable the mammary ducts to produce and secrete milk at the last stage of pregnancy or during breastfeeding. Moreover, a woman’s body is very responsive to hormonal fluctuations during menstruation. These hormonal changes sometimes cause women’s breasts to retain fluids that result in breast enlargement, tenderness, and the characteristic lumps.

The condition is brought about when the tissues that support the milk glands thicken causing the milk ducts to swell. Afterwards, the sacs become filled with fluids and are now called cysts. The infection may start with one breast but may gradually spread into the other, worsening the condition. The lumps may vary in sizes. However, a small consolation for women is that fibrocystic breast condition is not cancerous, despite huge similarities with breast cancer.

The Causes of Fibrocystic Breast Condition

The exact causes of fibrocystic breast condition are something that continues to evade medical experts. However, with continuous research, there are findings which points to the following as possible causes of the condition:

* Excessive salt intake. Taking in large amounts of salt increases the body’s ability to retain fluids. As a result, women who experience the condition should limit their salt intake. In relation to this, one should drink no less than about 8 glasses of water a day. This is because a steady supply of non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic drinks “informs” the body that there is no need to retain fluids, such as what happens in fibrocystic breast condition.

* Frequent consumption of fatty and oily foods. Studies seem to show that fatty and oily foods increase the incidence of fibrocystic breast condition. As such, what experts recommend is a low-fat diet that also includes servings of fresh fruits and vegetables.

* Caffeine. Drinking caffeinated products regularly is also a known factor in causing fibrocystic breast condition.

Treatment for Fibrocystic Breast Condition

Although not cancerous, fibrocystic breast condition can cause a great deal of pain. Moreover, the condition can also be annoying. However, there is little known as far as treatment of the condition goes. As such, most intervention is geared toward minimizing symptoms for the reduction of the uneasiness that a woman may feel. The following are the most common means to reduce the symptoms of fibrocystic breast condition:

* Medication. Taking pain reliever is the easiest and most convenient way to reduce the pain associated with the condition.

* Wear the proper and exact-fitting bra. This is to provide the breasts with sufficient support. In some instances, it may be even needed to wear a bra even when asleep.

* Apply heating pads or towels soaked in hot water to provide relief from the discomfort.
